About Snowdon Mountain Railway
The only public rack railway in Britain, climbing the highest mountain in England and Wales. Trains gain more than 900 m to reach the 1,085 m summit. Some Swiss-built steam locomotives are over 120 years old. The rack system is similar to those used in the Alps.
